If you are in a newer Hyundai car, truck, or SUV, chances are it has Highway Driving Assist as an option. With this technology, your vehicle can make highway-speed driving less stressful and improve safety while someone is behind the wheel. Of course, we won't spoil it all yet, so please continue reading to learn more about Hyundai Highway Driving Assist below.
What is Hyundai Highway Driving Assist?
Hyundai Highway Driving Assist (HDA) is a semi-autonomous driver-assistance feature in many new Hyundai releases. It combines Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Lane Following Assist (LFA) to maintain a good distance between cars in front of you, keep your Hyundai centered, and adjust to speed limits. For this to work, you will need good visibility ahead and behind your Hyundai, so it is not something we recommend in bad weather.
How to Use Highway Driving Assist
If you want to turn on your Highway Driving Assist feature on the road, you can follow these simple steps:
- Activate Smart Cruise Control by pressing the button on your steering wheel.
- Make sure your car's Lane Following Assist feature is also turned on.
- The Highway Driving Assist feature will activate if conditions are met and your SCC and LFA are turned on.
Note: You can adjust the speed settings and distance options on your steering wheel. Those buttons will be near the Smart Cruise Control icon.
How Hyundai Highway Driving Assist Works
Hyundai Highway Driving Assist is essentially an enhanced version of Smart Cruise Control. It works by combining Smart Cruise Control and Lane Following Assist features, monitoring the road ahead of you, and making note of lines on the road below to keep you centered. This driver-assistance feature depends on radar, cameras, GPS, and the car's navigation system.
Safety Enhancements
The added safety Highway Driving Assist (HDA) can offer Hyundai drivers is priceless, especially when traveling long distances. It will use adaptive cruise control to monitor and maintain driving conditions on the highway, keep you from drifting into another driver's lane, prevent your car from rear-ending someone, and automatically adjust speed based on posted limits.
It can be a game changer for you on your next road trip and is sure to give you more peace of mind while you are driving.
