It is no surprise that Hyundai has redone its uber-popular Santa Fe SUV for this latest and fifth generation. In 2024, we see everything from a larger size to a rectangular body with sharp edges to its reimagined cabin with tech and safety.
Of course, the all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe redesign didn't come out of left field; instead, it takes what previous releases did right, which we want to dive into in this article. Stay tuned as we get into all of the details below!
Hyundai Santa Fe Exterior Redesign
If we could use one word to describe the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe redesign, it would be BOLD. With this newest generation, Santa Fe has a completely changed aesthetic. It boasts a boxy exterior, longer wheelbase, squared grille, and LED lights at the front and back, bringing a new feel to this beloved model. You might even compare this to luxury-branded SUVs from Range Rover, which, for many, is a step in the right direction.
Highlights: Boxy frame, sharp lines, LED lighting overhaul, longer wheelbase, Range Rover inspiration.
Hyundai Santa Fe Interior Redesign
The interior portion of the Hyundai Santa Fe redesign is just as exciting as the outside, showcasing even more passenger space, technology standard, and high-end materials for seats and trim. Specifically, you get things like upgraded second-row captain's chairs, a deep center console with a pull-out section, a curved panoramic dashboard featuring a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Nappa leather seats, a suede headliner, and eco-friendly leatherette door trim covers. There is plenty of luxury to go around in 2024 and beyond.
New 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe vs. Old Hyundai Santa Fe
Of course, the new Hyundai Santa Fe redesign is pretty different from before, and some people don't even realize this is the same SUV as it was years ago. We'll break this down by generation below.
5th Generation: 2024 - Present
Comparing the all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe to one from the fourth and previous generation is night and day. Here's what has changed from all generations, but fourth specifically:
- The 2024 Santa Fe is 1.8 inches longer than the previous generation
- Improved cargo: 40.5 cubic feet of space behind second-row seats
- 2024 Santa Fe comes standard with third-row seating
- Boxier, rectangular appearance with an H-line theme inside and out
- Dual displays and curved panoramic dashboard
4th Generation: 2019 - 2023
This is a big difference comparing the all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe to one from the fourth and previous generation. Remember, your 2019-2023 model had a rounded body, shorter wheelbase, greater overhang, and fewer technology upgrades and luxury elements than the 2024 edition. Here are some things to note:
- Smaller size and rounded body/frame
- Less standard technology (no dual touchscreens)
- Less passenger and cargo space overall
- No third-row seating (discontinued)
3rd Generation: 2013 - 2018
The third generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe (2013-2018) was a favorite for many reasons, with this being the most petite and simple design among all of the releases mentioned in this post. Yes, you had less cargo than in modern-day Santa Fe and more basic, streamlined interiors, but this was and continues to be a durable, three-row vehicle.
Things that changed: Grille design, body styling, lighting at front and rear, interior tech and comfort, dimensions, safety features, seat capacity.
