2024 Hyundai Kona

Now in its second generation, the Hyundai Kona is a compact crossover that slots into the Hyundai SUV family lineup between the Venue and the Tucson models. In this article, we'll take a look into 2024 Hyundai Kona, the stylish crossover.

What's New For 2024?

Compared to the first generation, the 2024 Hyundai Kona is larger thanks to a stretched wheelbase and boasts a longer overall body length.

The 2024 Hyundai Kona is completely redesigned and now looks thoroughly fresh and modern, while the interior has been classed up, too, with more available technology and features.

Interior, Comfort, And Cargo

The 2024 Hyundai Kona features a sleek, modern interior. The trimmed-down center console and relocation of the transmission selection buttons to a stalk behind the steering wheel frees up cabin space for a large storage area to keep all your travel essentials.

The 2024 Hyundai Kona offers a thoughtfully curated range of options, including a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats plus, and features typically not found oncompetitor vehicles in this class. Improved noise insulation on this new model makes for a more pleasant and comfortable daily commuter.

The 2024 Hyundai Kona is one of the roomiest models in its class, with class-leading cargo space. The larger exterior dimensions of the new design mean increased interior space, and as a result, the rear legroom has grown 1.2 inches larger to 36.4 inches. When it comes to grocery shopping and family vacation luggage cargo, the Kona offers up to 25.5 cubic feet of cargo volume with all seats in place and folding down the second-row seat frees up 63.7 cubic feet of boot space.

When it comes to loading larger items, the Kona offers a rather clever solution of storing the cargo cover shelf up against the seats rather than having to remove it altogether.

2024 Hyundai Kona Exterior Design

As mentioned, the 2024 Hyundai Kona has a totally modern and fresh exterior. The wheelbase now stands at 104.7 inches, and the vehicle length is 171.3 to 172.6 inches, depending on trim. All models measure 71.9 inches in width 62.0 to 62.6 inches in height, and curb weights range from 2,855 to 3,362 pounds.

This new design's aerodynamic shape boasts a low 0.30 coefficient of drag) and key exterior features are a wide "horizon lamp" below the hood line and Hyundai's distinctive "Z surfacing" side panels, as seen on Hyundai's electric models, making its appearance on the 2024 Hyundai Kona.

Electric models feature body-colored fender flares, while contrasting black fender flares are fitted on the gasoline versions. Design cues like a sweeping roof panel house the raised third brake light above the rear view glass. The rear-end styling treatment finds a further body-wide horizon lamp below the rear window glass.

Trim-dependent features include roof rails and alloy wheels ranging from 17 inches to 19 inches.

Performance And Powertrain

Continuing on from the previous generation, the 2024 Kona features one of two gasoline four-cylinder engines. A 2.0-liter MPI engine is standard, producing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, with the option of the more powerful 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque turbocharged 1.6-liter engine.

The base engine versions use a new continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and turbo-engined models use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Across the range, front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard fitment, and the all-wheel drive is an extra-cost option.

Safety And Driver-Assistance Features

Every 2024 Hyundai Kona is equipped as standard with anti-lock braking (ABS) coupled with 4-wheel disc brakes. Braking is further aided by the fitment of electronic stability control (ESC) along with traction control support (TCS) and brake assist (BA).

Potentially dangerous tire blowouts and subsequent loss of vehicle control are taken care of with standard fitment of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with individual tire indicators.

All 2024 Hyundai Kona models are fitted with Hyundai SmartSense driver-assist technology. This means that buyers of the Kona will get a comprehensive suite of driver aids, including forward collision warning and braking, blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention warning, and high-beam assist.

Available features on the Kona include remote parking accessed via the key fob, lane centering assistance, blind-spot camera and front cross-traffic warning.

The 2024 Hyundai Kona can also be further equipped with a driver-monitoring system and a self-parking feature.

Infotainment And Connectivity

Taking the center place of Kona's cabin is a wide panel display housing twin 12.3-inch displays. A display touchscreen comes with Hyundai's newest infotainment system, supporting over-the-air (OTA) updates to keep the software up to date.

New features of this infotainment system include a digital key allowing owners to use a smartphone as a vehicle key, a surround-view parking camera and the Bose premium audio system. Standard across the range is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration with entry-level SE and SEL trim levels offering wireless connectivity capability.
