The Hyundai Elantra has been a mainstay in the compact sedan market since its first introduction in 1990. Recognized and embraced by the buying public, it stands as a testament to Hyundai's enduring appeal in this segment.
Embracing the advancement in hybrid technology, Hyundai extended its popular model range to include a hybrid version. This led to the launch of the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid in 2021 with the current seventh-generation Elantra. The 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid represents the latest iteration of this line, offering enhanced features and improved efficiency. Notably, the Hyundai Elantra was named the 2021 North American Car of the Year, reflecting its success and popularity in a competitive market.
With the world's attention on global warming and carbon emissions, there certainly is increasing interest in both hybrid and electric vehicles. The hybrid car appeals to owners looking for better fuel efficiency, and because it can run on a battery some of the time, stops to fill up with gas are less frequent. Lowered carbon emissions are a bonus for those who wish to lower their carbon footprint.

What's New for 2023?
The facelifted Hyundai Elantra was introduced in August 2023 with several minor upgrades in the standard safety features and some interior enhancements. For 2023, the Hybrid version of the Elantra is available in the Blue and Limited trim levels.
Interior and Cargo Space
Featuring an interior similar to the standard Elantra, the Hybrid's futuristic and roomy interior is also easy to live with, with thoughtfully placed controls that are easy to reach, allowing drivers to remain focused on the road ahead.
A key styling feature is the single LED strip that flows across the wide dashboard air vent from the steering column to the passenger's side door panel.
Entry into the Hybrid is made easy with the remote proximity keyless entry system with an alarm and a push button start, which is standard fare. Once seated, the driver gets to enjoy the wraparound-styled dashboard and center console with a grab handle on the passenger side.
The front passenger gets a more minimalist view forward with just the elegantly styled and wide air vent dissecting their portion of the dashboard.
A tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with steering-wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls plus steering-wheel-mounted cruise controls are standard. Power windows are fitted all around, with the driver's window being one-touch auto-down/up, controlled with the front illuminated power-window switches. Power door locks, along with illuminated vanity mirrors and sliding sun visors, add to the convenience.
Other key standard interior appointments include:
- 6-way adjustable driver seat, including height adjustment
- 4-way adjustable passenger seat
- Front passenger slide/recline
- Heated front seats
- Dual, fully automatic temperature control
Passenger volume is generous at 99.4 cubic feet, with both front and rear passengers enjoying plentiful head and legroom. When it comes to loading luggage, the trunk space at 14.2 cubic feet places the Elantra Hybrid ahead of other vehicles in its class.
Loading is made easier with the flat-folding rear seats with remote-release latches conveniently situated in the trunk. The rear seat features standard anchor fitment on each rear outboard seat for fastening child safety seats into place.
